Pega Platform version 8.7 expands the scope of Cosmos React and its underlying view-based architecture to support the latest open-source technologies and UI solutions.
Constellation applications combine the latest technology with a prescriptive design system that prioritizes configuration over customization for easier development.
The system provides a consistent library of components that you can use to form the entire user experience. Cosmos can even be used to create full-fledged case management applications.
Cosmos React Builds a react based application (React based UI ). The React-based UI offers low code capabilities with a run-time environment that supports the latest open-source technologies and frameworks, and helps views render in their native technology with more dynamic updates and responsiveness. Pega's React-based UI is built using open standards, such as ReactJS, Redux, and ES6, and includes the Pega Cosmos design system (a React-based component library for Cosmos), the Constellation client engine (which mediates between UI components and the DX API), DX API v2, and the public Java script API for the constellation client engine.
We can make the changes from APP studio & Dev studio.
So, now let's see how it's different from UI KIT or Theme Cosmos. Let's start with creating an application and creating some UI rules.
Step 1- Build an application ; Select build on as Constellation.
Step 2- Design a Case Type
Step 3- Configure UI - Configure View
Step 4 - Open the flow rule > Flow Action
Step 5- Open the view rule
So, basically, the primary difference is configuration vs. customization. we don't get a section rule to make the changes as we wish. Pega creates a view rule internally.
I will create one more article, about how constellation actually works.
